A Fresh Coat or a Paint in the @$$??

After waiting since June for our painter to come, Adam took charge and made a phone call for an exact date. We knew it would be the middle of September...but how much in the middle? His hard work paid off and they asked if they could come the next day. It was supposed to rain for the next few days, so they would stop their outside work and come and do the inside of our house. We could hardly believe the time had finally arrived!!! We set to work tearing apart our house and disorganizing EVERYTHING! FUN!! I have a feeling our cat thinks we are moving again. She is very friendly and very vocal these days, and sleeps at my feet at night. Poor little Horsie.

So the painters arrived the next morning at 8am, and promptly set to work. We packed up our things and moved to a hotel for the night. Adam went off to work, so Calli, Marin and I had a did our own thing. Calli was pretty excited about the hotel, because everyone knows...You are only allowed to jump on beds when you are in a hotel!!! She got her fill in that night!!

Here are some before and afters of our digs!
Callis' little nook room was a bit dark for us.

But her new colour is nice and bright and of course, it's pink!!!

A room fit for a princess!!

Marins room was this horrible mustard yellow and dark blue with a wood ABC chair rail around the middle. The son of the previous owners had the pleasure of staring at these walls...

But Marin now has the pleasure of staring at....

These walls!! Lucky girl. It's pretty darn pink in there, but with white curtains and furniture etc, it's not going to be looking like a bubble gum packet exploded in there!!
This is the view of Calli's little nook as seen from Marin's room.

Our room was this lovely shade of dark blue on top and white on the bottom. It had a disgusting wall paper border all the way around the room, which we removed shortly after moving in.

We chose a seriously calm shade of blue. It's like the colour of a cloudy icicle. We will compliment the colour with our chocolate brown bed, chocolate brown wood blinds and pillows and white sheets and pillows.

The purple in flooring in the hallway is the under padding for our carpet. The installer mis-measured the carpet the first time through, so they ordered more and we are getting it installed next week!
And yes, that is Marin walking around. She's a full time vertical girl now!!

Our kitchen was a shocking electric blue colour. The white paint on the cabinets is chipped off in some places and we have seen a shockingly bright yellow shade underneath!! To match the blue walls???

And why this strange green wall? There is nothing to explain this wall.

Needless to say, we have change the wall colour to this lovely shade of baby blue and are in discussion on what to do with the cabinets... We might get new doors someday or something to that effect.

The living room was an ugly looking dusty lavender sort of colour. But the perpendicular walls were a darker shade of dusty purple, with purple stencilled vines along the highest points of the walls. Not my cup of tea.

Nice stencils... Not so much.

We chose a light beige-ish colour to cover the horrible purple walls. Much nicer to look at.

Adam wanted some green in the house and we had our entry hall painted green. The green, beige and baby blue look fantastic together and flow much better than the purple, shocking blue and brownish-orange (entry hall's old colour), that the house used to be.

So now, with these renos done, we are just waiting on one strip of carpet to be installed, and a few rotting windows to be replaced. Progress is a long time coming...but well worth the wait!!
