Mont Tremblant Fall

We were invited up to Mont Tremblant by Chris, a friend Adam attended pilot school with (nice terminology, hey Adam?). Chris was up there with his wife, Janet, their son, Matty (Matthew), 2, and their 8 week old daughter, Katie (Kate). They were visiting from Alberta. The timing could not have been better, giving us a great opportunity to see some more of the province, and also to take in the colours of fall!!!

After a spectacular drive up to the "mountain," we enjoyed a fabulous dinner, which was prepared by Chris's Mom and Dad. We visited and got caught up on each others lives for a few hours, while the kids learned to play together. There were a few sharing issues...mostly because we forgot to pack toys for the girls, so Matty had to learn about sharing. (As you'll see in a future blog, our painters finally arrived...leaving us in utter chaos for 3 days...hence the lack of toys). The air was really cool up there, which was a refreshing change from the humidity we'd experienced all summer!

The next morning we had a great breakfast and just the 8 of us walked to the village, leaving Chris' parents to have a quiet morning to themselves.

This picture is just before we headed out on our walk. Trying to get all 3 kids to cooperate was not an easy task... Katie was all bundled up in her cuddly wrap with her Mom, so don't try looking for her in this picture.

Marin - enjoying the scene at the village.

A view of part of the mountain from where the lifts begin.

We wandered around the village, admiring the buildings and scenery, before taking a gondola up to the top of the mountain.
On our way up...

The colours of a Quebec fall... Like nothing else...

Marin and Calli taking in the view.

Janet and Calli in the gondola. If you look close enough, you'll see little Katie all bundled up in Janets sweater...you can just see her hand beneath Janet's necklace.

It was VERY cold and VERY windy at the top, but the view made up for it. There were rolling hills as far as the eye could see and many little ski hills dotted among the horizon.

We took a little hike up to the highest point of the mountain for some sight-seeing, but I chose to stay at the bottom of the stair tower and watch the girls. Adam told me he felt a bit like a popsicle when he got back down. Matty, who rode up on his Dad's shoulders kept saying "Don't like wind. Don't like wind." I was totally on his side with that one!! Smart kid.

Before heading back down the mountain, we got a few cookies for the kids to snack on. Looks like they were all enjoying them! Maybe they were just happy to be back in something warm. It was SO cold up there. And it's only mid September.

On the walk back, Chris took us beside Mirror Lake.

While we were packing the car up to leave, Calli and Matty found a nice leafy hill to roll down. After that was done, they figured out how to make rain out of leaves and had a great time throwing piles of leaves around for each other!!

We had a great time up there, we wished we could have stayed longer, but that's always the way when you're having fun!! We are looking forward to seeing it in the winter! I bet it'll be snowy!!!

The get-away sounded like a lot of fun and the fall photos were amazing. The fall colors reminded me of when I was Germany in September (1996).
