Sister/Sistah

Things are slowly coming together. It's very strange not to have to pack. There are a few things I need to get done, because we've sold some furniture, but overall there is little for me to do in the way of packing. I have packed and moved about 15 times in the last 12 years. I'm glad to have a break this time. It would be something else trying to entertain 2 little kids while packing up the house. I am already trying to figure out what to pack and what to leave behind for the cross-country drive. Should be interesting.

Calli took a little break in the Helicopter in the mall the other day. Can you believe a ride used to cost 25cents? Now they cost $1. Therefore, Calli rarely gets a ride...I bet our parents used to feel the same way. Twenty-five cents??? Forget it!! Just like the way chocolate bars used to cost 10 cents...now you think you hit the jackpot when Save On has them on for 80 cents or 2 for $1.50!!! Funny how these people can brain-wash us into believing they are doing us favours with their "sale" items. So anyway...

Emma and Calli had a nice little visit for 3 days when we returned from our trip. It was interesting to see the different way they played together since being apart for the last year. They were both more opinionated than they had been in the past. They still played well together, but they ended up with a few more reminders of how to play nicely together than they'd had before. Here they are with Emma giving Calli a new hairdo. Calli looks a bit aprehensive, no?

They put tears in my eyes when it was time to say Goodbye. Calli gave Emma her new pink tape measure that Adam had given her a few days before. It was a lovely gesture considering how much Calli adored her new tape measure. The sacrifices friends will make....

Marin has taken to pulling herself up on everything in sight. She is a force to be reckoned with, this girl. She has quite a temper if she doesn't get what she wants. So if she is trying to pull herself up and she can't make it, she gets really mad. Or if she wants something and you don't give it to her ASAP, she has a little fit...(ie. food, Cheerios, toys - you know all the things that are important to an 8 month old)!!! She pulled herself up on Calli's easel and was playing hide and seek behind the paper. Quite improvisational, don't you think?

Marin is still after everything that her sister has or that she is doing at all times. She follows her around as much as she can and interferes, according to Calli, with any project Calli is doing. Because our cat, Wickett, did exactly the same thing, Calli knows to pick up what she is doing and move away. Here she has done just that. Taken the paper off the easel stand and moved it to a space away from Marin...but...Marin has followed and is trying to draw too!!

I have noticed today that Calli is playing in her room more, and moving along a lot quicker than she used to! She is finally learning! With the speed that Marin is making her way around, I don't think it will be long before Marin is walking/running along behind her to participate!

Calli is usually in full dress-up mode on a daily basis, practicing her ballet moves or being a princess. This was her outfit yesterday. Nice.
