BioHumidity

We spent the morning organizing and moving stuff around in our living room and kitchen. I think things are finally coming together and the house is looking more like a house. When we enter the house after having been out, I don't get the feeling of clutter and claustrophobia from having boxes covering nearly every inch of floor space. The kids can actually walk/crawl around and aren't trapped in a one square foot play space!! Much nicer.

We ventured out this afternoon to visit the Biodome. (Please note, the following 3 photos are not my work.)

The girls and I had been before when we came out house-hunting, but Adam had never been and Calli had promised him she would bring him there one day. I overheard her this morning practicing saying "I'll bring you there someday, Dad." So the brilliant idea came to me that perhaps we should go and see it while Adam has a bit of time off. When we told Calli, she nearly burst into tears with excitement!! It was pretty cute. When we were inside and looking around, she kept telling Adam that she knew what was coming next and pointed out things that she remembered from last time. Once, he was spending too much time ogling the fish and Calli called "OK, That's enough Dad." I guess she told HIM!!

Marin was pretty cute. I had her in the backpack and she was quite excited by the fish. She would point at them over my shoulder and talk in her own language.

We watched a little otter playing for a while, we stared at a couple of beavers taking a break from being busy...and we were very lucky to run into a Biodome employee who was kind enough to point out where the sloths were hiding, as well as a HUGE iguana!! The 2 sloths were high up in a tree - a mother and baby. The baby is only 6 months old. They spend almost all of their time up in the tree and only come down about once every 8 to 10 days, when they head to the "backroom??" and then make their way up the trees again. Interesting, no?

We saw a few porcupines, some caimans (aligators), some beautiful birds, an Anaconda, a lynx, lots of horrible sturgeon and other nasty looking fish...the list goes on. Calli was telling Adam about the "horrible sturgeon" that he would be seeing there. She's got her vocabulary down!

We have discovered that the garbage system here is a dream for people just moving in to a new house. The previous owners here left a LOT of garbage and stuff around the yard and in the garage. (YUCK!) When we arrived, we noticed a HUGE pile of garbage waiting on the front lawn and wondered how we would ever pack it into bags in order for it to be hauled away. Back in PR, we used to pay $1.50 per bag. Here...there is no charge and you are allowed to put out whatever you want to be hauled away. Last week, we had the following pile:

Yes, it did take 3 grown men to load the pile into the truck, but it's all gone!!!! Adam is now eager to go through all of our belongings to see what else we'll "never use again." Oh well.

We found a lovely little restaurant the other day and enjoyed some crepes, pizza and a salami sandwich for Calli!

This place (province) is like heaven, I swear! Where else can you go out and order crepes filled with melted chocolate???? And perhaps topped with strawberries??? And did I mention for the gentlemen...a case of 24 beer will cost only $22.00??? If we aren't careful we could end up as alcoholics with a severe sweet tooth!!!

Hellllllllo!
GOD I'm so jealous of all the crepes available to you.

It's nice to actually see YOU in a picture as you normally are the one taking the pics!

Why is beer so cheap?
