Friends are the Key

Living closer West has great benefits! We had a super fun visit from our great friends, M-J and Dann, who lived in Powell River at the same time we did. Calli and their daughter, Emma were born only 4 days apart and we spent a lot of time together back then. They also have a sweet little boy named Ethan.

We took the kids to the Calgary Zoo for a fun afternoon. Calli and Emma had stayed awake chatting until midnight, so they weren't fully "in the game" when we visited the Zoo, but they managed to push through all the walking without too much fuss!

Here are Marin, Calli, Ethan and Emma checking out a peacock on our way in.

The giraffes were amazing. There was a video playing on some tv screens in the giraffe area showing the birth of the baby giraffe!! What an amazing thing to see!

Outside, basking in the sun, were the Hippos! Calli and Emma checked them out for a long time...might have had something to do with not walking and getting even more tired.

There is a Dinosaur park area that Calli really wanted to see. I hope she didn't think there would actually be real dinosaurs there!! Just kidding.

When we were walking around the grounds, we saw this cute mother peacock with her two little babies!! I have never seen a baby peacock!! They were so cute!

This visit was the first time that we'd met Ethan since he was born! Can you believe it? He'll be 3 next month already! It was also the first time that Dann and Ethan had met Marin and she just turned 4!! Hopefully now that we are closer we'll be able to have a few more visits.

Emma was just as beautiful as we remember, if not a bit taller!

It was nice to see Emma and Calli together again...they used to have so much fun together and even though they hadn't seen each other in 3 years, they got along just like it was yesterday.

Look how cute they were when they were little!!!

And now the babies are growing up so very fast! Thank you Ethan and Emma, and your parents, for such a fun visit!! Calli and Marin loved having you here and hopefully we'll see you again soon!! xoxo

The weird thing is, I DO remember Emma. How cool that the girls still remember each other. Hope Calli has an easy time fitting in at her new school!

We loved our visit and it did seem like time stood still for Emma & Calli.
We look forward to many more visits in the future!
