Granny's Visit

I think I've mentioned before that Adam and Nellie have a "special" bond? Nellie can hardly contain herself when Adam is around and he is on par with her behaviour when he interacts with her. Case in point:

We took the kids to the park, but Adam insisted I take a photo of him and Nellie going down the slide together. I know.... As a side note, I'm not sure if you can tell, but the snow is SO high and deep that the slide is only 2/3 slide-able. The bottom 1/3 is covered. The kids were having a heyday at the park, being able to climb things they weren't able to before the snow arrived. The merry-go-round and the park benches are covered over though. Amazing.

My Mum was here visiting for a few weeks. She arrived a week before Easter and the girls relished their time with her. It's always nice to have someone else read the same old books over and over.

Easter morning was a hoot! Marin was really into it this year and made us all laugh with her antics. The girls came into our room around 8am to show us that the Easter bunny had left chocolates on their night-tables. Calli came in with the chocolates in her hands, to show us, while Marin came in with the chocolates in her mouth, trying to explain what she'd found! Here she has followed the bunny tracks into the basement and found the treasure at the end.

Most of the morning Easter egg hunting looked like this picture here, with Calli speeding around the house, collecting all the eggs and Marin tagging along slowly (and eating handfuls of Eggies on the way). We eventually had to instruct Calli to take only two of every group of four eggs, to ensure Marin got her fair share as well.

Calli is an excellent chocolate seeker. She could go pro.

That crazy Easter bunny hid eggs in all the letters on the fridge!! The girls thought it was pretty hilarious to find eggs in the alphabet!

You can just see it on their faces!

It was a bit like Christmas with the gifts from Grandpa, Grandma, Granny, Auntie Gillian, Uncle Raffi and Sofia, Oma, Opa and Mom and Dad. They were truly spoiled.

This little clip is priceless!! Marin was so excited about the bunny footprints all over the house and couldn't believe what was on the table! I'll let you figure it out.

We were a bit behind on the Easter egg colouring, so we did it on Easter Sunday after the girls found all the eggs. Granny is the BEST person to help out with colouring eggs. She has years of practice and know-how behind her!

Adam and Marin went to Chilliwack for a quick overnight visit with Great Grandpa, as well as Grandpa and Grandma. She was ready for the plane ride, with her moose in hand and her monkey hat firmly on her head!

They brought home 2 coolers full of deer meat. That was the purpose of the trip. Calli was supposed to have gone, but she came down with a really bad flu and was stuck in bed for a week.
Here is Marin inspecting Great Grandpas garden. She's such a movie star.

Marin managed to fly under the radar and avoided getting sick. She had a great trip with her Dad and even flew Business Class on the way home!! Oh, the perks of being in the business! Doesn't she look like she fits right in! She looks so little in this picture....but super cute!

Once everyone was back on their feet, we took Granny to the Sugar Shack where we had taken Adam's parents last year. We had a really great afternoon there and did all the things a person should do there...including slathering our lunch in Maple Syrup. SO yummy! How could you NOT?

Mmmm....Sugar pie! Mmmmm.....

Granny took a minute to inspect the old sawmill in this building. And yes, that is Marin in the pink, off in the distance...heading towards the parking lot.

Calli enjoyed the maple taffy on snow. It's a shame a person couldn't stay all day to really get their fill!

I'm sure it can't be that bad for us. Marin enjoyed her taffy, even though it was sticky and her hands were cold.

The meal was delicious. Baked beans, mashed potatoes, farm-style omelette, salted back-bacon, sausages, pea soup, warm, homemade, crusty bread, Quebecois maple-smoked ham, Tourtiere, meatballs and pancakes and sugar pie for dessert!! Everything is accompanied by a wine bottle full of maple syrup for the extra indulgent!!

It was a perfect day for a visit and the rustic buildings are a fantastic backdrop for photos.

Thank you Granny for a wonderful visit. We had a super time and were so happy that you were able to make the trip out to spend time with us. Hopefully it won't be long before you are back out here again. xo
