Rebirth/Regrowth/Renew

Once again, I have a huge mix of pictures and things we've done. So here goes...

Marin has been slightly obsessed with Calli's pre-school backpack. She watches the Dora cartoon every morning and even sings her own version of the Backpack song, "Bah-pat! Bah-pat!" Marin has been known to bring the backpack along on trips to town!! She loves it!

Here she is looking through Calli's sticker album with her backpack on her back.

Luckily, her sister is willing to share.

To celebrate the arrival of spring and to teach the kids about the circle of life, growth and rebirth, we planted some seeds with them.

They were really excited about the way the peat pellets expanded when we added water to them.

Calli has been in charge of feeding Nellie twice a day for quite a while now. We've noticed a big change in her with her attitude towards Nellie. She still needs a little more space than Nellie is willing to give, but they are getting along better.

Remember the bird house Adam helped Calli build? Going along with our spring celebration, we painted it and hung it out in the garden. Calli used all 6 colours together to create the lovely concotion adorning the front of the bird house. I encouraged her to make the swirly deisgn and I think it turned out pretty nice in the end. Adam painted the roof on that side...

...I painted the roof on this side.

Here is my cute little family (minus Horsie) after hanging up the bird house. Marin recently discovered pockets and can often be found wandering around with her hands buried deep in them.

She is a funny little pea!!

Here, Adam is hanging the bird feeder. Isn't he brave climbing up so high? I suppose he isn't afraid of heights. We were really looking forward to seeing the birds who would come and eat from the feeder and were extremely disappointed to see a huge black squirrel snacking on it the next day.

When my Dad first got sick with cancer, I took up knitting again. I needed something to take my mind off everything for a few minutes. It was the perfect stress reliever. I started off small and then taught myself how to do more difficult stitches and to follow patterns. I made a few blankets for my kids and am very proud of conquering this particular pattern. I have shipped them off to a few friends who have had babies lately. Here is what the finished product looks like. Isn't it beautiful!

And last but not least, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Jean, her son, Klint and his girlfriend, Francis. Jean's husband is my Godfather. They came out from Alberta to visit/celebrate with Jean's Mom for her 90th birthday and they fit in an afternoon visit with us!! We took them to Premiere Moisson, a fantastic boulangerie not far from where we live, to have some tea and a delicious dessert. We shared a LOT of laughs and had a lovely afternoon together. We missed you Uncle Wayne and hope to see you out this way sometime too!! Thank you Jean for the hot cross buns. We enjoyed them on Saturday morning when we celebrated Easter. They were really fanastic, just like Francis said!! Thank you for coming out to our house, it was so nice to see you and Klint again and to meet Francis.

So Happy Easter/Eostar to everyone. Wishing you all goodness for the coming year.

Where is Nellie, whose dog is that in the pictures? She can't possibly have grown that fast!! Where is the puppy?!

I see Marin is screwing up her face again for the camera, what a ham. Sure wish I had been with you at Premier Moisson and lapping up those desserts with Jean, Klint and Francis.

The birdbox is a unique extravaganza for sure, a combined family venture. Maybe you should be selling them!

Fun photos...

Nice cover, so you say you are teaching the girl about new life etc, but...
I see you took Dann's advice about making money on the side (your clones are off to a great start. Will your operation be outside or in your basement?)LOL!!

Marin looks so rock-n-roll in the last picture!

What type of seeds did you plant with the girls? Such a good idea.

Holy smokes, you can knit too? Crafty mama! The hands in the pockets thing is so cute and aloof looking. Calli is amazing to share something so precious with her sister!
