Back to the Beach

Tofino 2011, a set on Flickr.

A day or two after school was out for the summer, the girls and I headed out to BC for a fabulous 10 days in Tofino with Granny.  Once again, we really lucked out with the weather and enjoyed sunshine and warm temperatures almost every day!  We really couldn't have asked for anything more.

The girls were in their glory from the minute we arrived and headed straight out to the beach to dig in the sand and to jump the waves and get their feet wet.

We ate delicious food, listened to the ocean, did lots of exploring and spent some memorable time together.  Our resort had Kids Time every morning we were there and the girls were up early to participate in various crafts and activities with some of the other kids staying there.  One particular morning, the girls were participating in a sand castle building contest down on the beach.  I dropped them off and headed back to our suite to have breakfast and coffee with Granny.  Three hours later when they returned, Calli was walking with a blond haired girl and was telling me that she knew this girl from Montreal!!  As she is relaying the story to me, the girl is relaying the story to her Mom who is standing 10 feet from me on the grass!  It turns out that three or four years ago, Adam and I took the girls camping to a place in Ontario  and Calli and this little girl (who I see is actually mentioned in this post from 2008!) met while we were camping there and spent two days playing together and discovering that they attended the same school  in Montreal.  We never heard the end of Miss A.  So of all the places to be and all the people we could meet...she happens to be in the same remote BC town (Tofino), staying at the same resort directly above our room on the exact days we are staying there and is participating in the same sand castle competition!  It was uncanny and Miss A's mother and I both couldn't believe the story the girls told!  Needless to say, they were inseparable for the next 4 days and we assumed there is some purpose for them to be connected in this life.  It was really incredible!

Here are Calli, Miss A and Marin drinking hot chocolate on the beach.

We also got to spend some sweet time with our friend Krista!  She spent the afternoon with us in the sun on the beach and we took her out for her birthday lunch the following day.  It was really nice to spend time with her again and we look forward to seeing her every year when we go to Tofino.

All in all, we had a very relaxing time and it was so nice to be in Tofino again.  We got to visit the Tofino Farmers Market in town, I hiked a piece of the Wild Pacific Trail with the girls, we spent a ton of time on the beach and it was a perfect holiday for the end of the school year, seeing as we left only a few days after school was out for the summer!  Can't wait for next time already!!

Weather was perfect, seeing the bees and learning
about them was simply amazing. Krista is an
awesome person, I loved being in her wilderness
garden.

Flying in the Beaver too, seeing the coastline and the whales from above was fascinating, the girls taking their first experience in a float plane in stride yet excitement too.

Was such a fun trip, and we had the only sunny
week so far out there!
