Marin is Five!

Marin turned FIVE!!!

Instead of having a "traditional" birthday celebration/party at home, Marin chose to take 2 of her friends to see the movie Nanny McPhee Returns!! The girls enjoyed munching on the Kids Pack that comes with popcorn, juice and a Kinder surprise and they all giggled their way through the movie, which we found hilarious as well!

After the movie, we returned home for cake! Marin picked a rainbow bit cake with vanilla icing. We totally improvised with the decorations (obviously) and she loved it! It was delicious, not nutritious and full of candy decorations!

As usual, Marin was nervous and embarrassed when we sang Happy Birthday to her, but she got through again this year without crying!! I love Adam's face in this photo!

Nervous little pumpkin...

MMMmmm....cake....

Here she is waiting for everyone to finish singing...

...and now we are explaining that Uncle Colin and I used to have this candle ring at our birthdays!! And also that we would give everyone a chance to blow out a candle.

And she huffed....

...and she puffed...

...and we all wondered who her boyfriend was, seeing as the last candle wouldn't blow out!! She thought that was hilarious!!

After cake, we went over to the living room so she could open her presents. Calli helped her read all her cards, otherwise we would have been there longer while she sounded out each and every word!

She got a homemade necklace from her friend Annika, and a cute little package containing candy to make-your-own-candy-necklace! You can imagine what a "hit" that present was!

Lois gave her a velvet art craft and a make your own doll kit!

Calli bought Marin some new Barbie accessories and some earrings.

Uncle Colin and Amanda bought the hilarious Operation game for her.

Granny gave Marin some cool colour changer Hot Wheels and some race track, as well as a couple of new Hot Wheel cars.

She got a whack of new earrings from Grandma and Grandpa (and from her parents)....as well as a new backpack for school and a bunch of new Littlest Pet Shop toys and a car for them to travel in.
We had a super fun day and even got to go to a friends house for dinner that night and further share in Marin's celebration!
It's hard to believe that she'll be starting school this week....she's growing up so fast....
