All Rolled Into One
I am not sure where the time has gone, but I'm going to do a catch up blog this time. It seems time evades me regularly and blogging has taken a backseat again. Our keyboard also stopped working, so we had to get a new one. It's really fancy. We chose the wired version this time around, to avoid having to replace the batteries all the time. It's almost like a piece of art and is taking some getting used to.
The girls are doing very well. They have been spending massive amounts of time playing Polly Pockets lately. As soon as they wake up in the morning until they have to go to bed, they can be found dressing, re-dressing and creating scenes for the Polly's to act out. Last week I sat with them and made a Polly "legend," by drawing each dolls hairstyle, adding a brief description of her looks and including a fitting name. Calli has them all memorized now and Marin matches each doll head up with the corresponding drawing and either asks Calli for the name or in some cases already has it memorized!
Marin got some new dress up clothes from Granny for being such a big girl and going on the potty. The girls were super excited to get the new stuff and paraded around the house for days in the new outfits. We finally had to show Calli that the clothes were for 3 year olds...not 5 year olds. I don't need a Britney look-a-like in this house.
Here she is on the phone with Granny having a deep conversation.
Marin LOVES Dora the "Falorer" and we couldn't keep her out of the Dora themed clothes. She's such a lovely little soul!
As you may already know, we have had SO much snow here this winter. I am going to repeat myself and say how happy I am to have had the snow plow guys come this year. It's the best $200 we've spent. The snow topped up the pool a few weeks back and it was a perfect spot for Calli to make some snow angels. Marin was happy to just sit and watch the action. I guess she's already angelic enough.
Nellie has calmed down somewhat, but has a real affinity for playing chase with her tail. She spends a fair amount of time during the day doing this and doesn't much care who is in the way while she is on her special mission. Check out the look on her face when she realizes how close she is to grabbing it this time!
We had supper at Roland and Katrina's house a few weeks back to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. Katrina made a fantastic batch of Lemon Blueberry pancakes served with mimosa's and we topped it all off with a homemade chocolate fondue! YUM! The kids were apparently trying to create a connect the dots puzzle on the table. Marin is nowhere to be seen, because the dessert involved massive amounts of fruits. :)
Somewhere we came across a Fun Dip. Remember those? We decided to let the kids go nuts and enjoy a huge dose of sugar, although the dipping was a bit tough for Marin, so we dumped all the disgusting sugar onto a plate to make it easier.
On Valentines Day, we had a nice dinner together and made our own chocolate fondue with some leftovers that Roland sent home with us. Marin thought she'd died and gone to heaven. She didn't consume any fruit, but she dipped and licked the chocolate like it was nobody's business. This is her newest face for pictures.
Adam and I were lucky enough to have a babysitter (Grandma just on her roundabout way home from Guatemala) to watch the girls while we went out for a nice Valentines dinner. We went somewhere we'd never been before and enjoyed a fantastic supper. Here is a link to the dishes we enjoyed.
Gillian and Sofia came and spent a few days with us while Grandma was here. We had a great visit and really noticed the change in Sofia since January! While Calli was off at school, we plunked Sofia in a chair beside Marin and encouraged her to watch tv! She didn't argue much!
While Grandma was visiting, we took the kids to Zig Zag Zoo one afternoon to run around. It was FAR too cold to play outside, so the zoo was packed with kids and other parents with this brilliant idea. They had a really great time. I had forgotten how great it is there and it was neat to see how much Marin enjoyed herself this time, being more independent than last time and much braver than her big sister! Click on the picture below to see more...
And lastly, we visited the EcoMuseum with Grandma, Gillian, Sofia, Katrina, Gus and Sarah. It was really neat to see all the animals in their winter environments. The snowy owl cage had been built since the last time we visited and the bears were in hibernation. It was well worth the visit and the weather was stellar while we were there! We packed a lunch and sat in the lunch room overlooking the Aviary. Calli held a snake again... Marin just observed. Click on the snowy owl to see what else we saw....
That's it for now. I'll be back soon.... Hope the last few weeks of winter are treating you well. I do enjoy hearing from you, so please feel free to leave comments. It's very easy to do and there is no need to sign up for an account as you can leave a comment in the anonymous section, but include your name...if you're up for it. Cheerio!
