Easter Eostar Ostara Spring

We celebrated Easter this year with a few new traditions. I read the girls some new stories about the creation of Spring and explained to them all the new things that come with the season. We created an Easter altar and we planted some seeds to show them how plants start out and what it takes to make them grow. Basically we celebrated the arrival (or so we thought) of Spring. It's all very exciting and Calli checks her seed planter each day to see how much the plants have grown as well as the gardens in the front of the house, to check for new growth of last years plants.

I bought a few supplies from Wal-Mart and Calli and I made these birds to add to our altar. They are made from a small feather boa, pipe cleaners, pom poms and a sheet of orange foam that I cut to make beaks! I think they turned out pretty well, don't you?

Here is our table all set up for the morning, with some new clothes the girls got as gifts, as well as their chocolates.

The Easter bunny left chocolates by the girls beds and there were little mini eggs all over the house. Calli was shaking with excitement. We hadn't told her when the bunny would be visiting so she was giddy with excitement once she realized what had happened. Here she is retelling the events of the morning and how "that sneaky Easter bunny" pulled the wool over her eyes!!

Marin is SO my daughter. Calli had made a bunny box at pre-school...

...and was collecting all the chocolate eggs she was finding and putting them in the box. Marin, on the other hand, was collecting handfuls, then placing one handful in her mouth and putting the other in the bunny box. It's exactly what I would have done!!

I found these bunny ears while out shopping one day and still can't understand how a couple of bunny ears can transform a kid from cute to ultra cute! I suppose the kid has a bit to do with it too!!

Last but not least, here is a little video of Marin eating a handful of chocolate and trying to talk while eating it.

I hope you had a happy Easter in whichever way you celebrated it!

Oh Marin, you are just like your Mummy, a chocoholic. So cute and doing so well with your words!

Love the birds for the altar Calli, how are your seeds doing, are they sprouting?
